CANTON, MASS. -- Dunkin' Donuts has hired a former PepsiCo beverage product and packaging developer, Frances Allen, as its new brand marketing officer.

Allen is responsible for development and execution of the doughnut chain's marketing and advertising strategies, as well as the development and launch of new products, the division of Canton-based Dunkin' Brands said.

Dunkin' Donuts noted that Allen was joining the 7,200-unit chain as its franchisees expand from their Eastern strongholds into such areas as Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas and Austin, Texas.

Most recently Allen was marketing vice president of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications. Previously she was vice president of innovation for Pepsi-Cola North America.
