Bushnell's uWink bolsters exec ranks for expansion

Nation's Restaurant News,  June 4, 2007

Los ANGELES -- UWink Inc., the tabletop-touch-screen dining and entertainment concept devised by the founder of Atari Corp. and Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theater, has bolstered its infrastructure for expansion by promoting John Kaufman to chief restaurant and development officer and appointing John Blake director of restaurant operations.

Kaufman is the 17-year veteran of California Pizza Kitchen who helped uWink founder Nolan Bushnell open the prototype restaurant concept in suburban Woodland Hills, Calif., last year as its director of operations.

Blake comes to uWink from 11-unit Wood Ranch BBQ and Grill, where he was the local casual-dining chain's vice president of operations.

Bushnell plans to open two more uWink restaurants in the Los Angeles area next year.
