New AFC shift: COO Lyons exits amid KFC-vet arrivals

Nation's Restaurant News,  Jan 7, 2008

ATLANTA -- In another high-level executive change at AFC Enterprises Inc., James W. Lyons has resigned as chief operating officer "to pursue another business opportunity," the parent of Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits said.

Lyons, who was staying on through the end of last month to help with a transition, joined AFC in 2004 and was named COO last year.

His resignation closely followed the retirement of AFC founder Frank J. Belatti and the appointment of former KFC president Cheryl A. Bachelder as chief executive and president of Popeyes. Belatti was succeeded as chairman by former KFC chief John Cranor.
