SALINAS, CALIF. -- Fresh Express, the producer of bagged salad mixes, said it would fund nine research projects to study E. coli 0157:H7 in lettuce and other leafy greens. Each research team is being awarded up to $250,000 to study the pathogen in an effort to advance scientific practices to prevent its occurrence in fresh produce.
