Sysco names Spitler president, Coo

Nation's Restaurant News,  May 7, 2007  

HOUSTON -- Sysco Corp., based here, said Kenneth Spitler would advance to president and chief operating officer effective July 1. Spitler, who currently is executive vice president and president of North American foodservice operations, has been with Sysco for 21 years.

Other additions to the senior management team are Joseph Barton, senior vice president of sourcing; James Hope, senior vice president of sales and marketing; Mark Palmer, vice president of corporate communications; Robert Davis, senior vice president of market development; and William Day, senior vice president of supply chain.

Sysco also named James "Tommy" Dail president and chief executive of Sysco Food Services of Knoxville, Tenn. William Tubb was appointed president and chief executive of Sysco Food Services of Philadelphia. Keith Shapiro was named president and chief executive of Sysco Food Services of Baltimore.

In other company news, Sysco purchased land in Hamlet, Ind., for a Midwest Cooperative Redistribution Center. This center is the third location of a series of facilities designed for broadline redistribution.
