DENVER -- More than 100 McDonald's in the Denver market will bundle various menu items into 11 combo meals to participate in the Smart Meal program of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
As the first quick-service chain to join the two-year-old program, the McDonald's restaurants will receive a Smart Meal seal for pairings that contain no more than 700 calories, with less than 15 percent from saturated fat and no more than 0.5 grams of trans fat.
Some of the combos to be offered starting in June are a hamburger with a Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait, apple slices and a low-fat caramel dip, 510 calories, and a grilled chicken sandwich with a fruit and walnut salad, 630 calories.
