Calif. Pizza Kitchen offers lures to boost repeat visits

Nation's Restaurant News,  April 28, 2008

LOS ANGELES -- California Pizza Kitchen has unveiled a nationwide 'Thank You Card" program aimed at boosting repeat visits by offering chances for prizes and cash up to $25,000.

Through May 16, customers at all 234 full-service CPK restaurants would be given some 2 million of the thank-you cards with a guaranteed prize, ranging from 10 percent to 20 percent off their next meal to trips, parties and cash.

Each card would be delivered in a sealed envelope and could be opened only by a CPK manager upon the guest's return.

Among other prizes would be dinner for two to six, free CPK frozen pizza for a year and a first-class trip for two with four nights at a deluxe hotel.

CPK reported a 0.4-percent uptick in same-store sales for the quarter ended March 30, versus a 4.7-percent increase in last year's first quarter. The company, its franchisees and licensees operate the 234 U.S. restaurants and have 19 more abroad, as well as 25 fast-casual California Pizza Kitchen ASAP branches.
