Wendy's signs two firms as new franchisees for Mexico

Nation's Restaurant News,  April 21, 2008

DUBLIN, OHIO -- Wendy's International Inc. has signed two new franchisees to develop within seven years more than 60 Wendy's units in Monterrey and Mexico City, Mexico.

The Mexico City franchisee is an affiliate of Corpogas SC, one of Mexico's largest gasoline and convenience store retailers, which also operates a chain of fine-dining restaurants and a food commissary.

The Monterrey franchise is Grupo Refran, which operates 12 Sirloin Stockades and was part of the group that first franchised Applebee's units in Mexico.

Wendy's existing franchisee in Mexico, Wenco-Mexico SA, operates 12 units in the northern cities of Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua.
