BK grants development rights for Hong Kong, Macau

Nation's Restaurant News,  April 9, 2007

MIAMI -- Burger King Holdings has awarded exclusive development rights for Hong Kong and Macau to a subsidiary of North Asia Strategic Holdings Ltd., a diversified industrial holding company.

The developer's first downtown Hong Kong restaurant is scheduled to open by December and would be the third BK unit in Hong Kong. The existing Burger Kings are located at the airport and at a tourist attraction known as The Peak.

Nearby Macau is an offshore gaming resort in which American hospitality interests are investing heavily.

The Burger King chain has more than 11,100 mostly franchised restaurants in the United States and more than 65 countries and U.S. territories.
