Nation's Restaurant News,  April 2, 2007

Las Palmas, in Chicago's liberal Wicker Park neighborhood, has fashioned a niche for itself as a stimulator of thought, debate and activism by featuring various politicians and historical figures in its print ads. The Aug. 28, 2006, Ad Watch included a Las Palmas ad with Fidel Castro. A recent ad with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez prompted outrage from some Chicagoans. Robert F. Kennedy and Coretta Scott King also have appeared in ads for the restaurant. The one above, typical of all the restaurant's ads, ran in Time Out Chicago.
