SALISBURY, MD. -- Finally, Maryland can lay claim to having the largest crab cake on record.
Earlier this month Guinness World Records certified a cake made of Maryland blue crab as titleholder for the world's biggest fish cake. Cooked in a 3-foot pan during the Diamond State BBQ Championship in Dover, Del., in 2006, the crab cake weighed in at a generous portion size of 235 pounds.
The crab cake was made with the assistance of food processor Handy International Inc. of Salisbury, and reportedly took nine hours to cook.
It was later divided into 600 crab cake sandwiches.
