Figaro's buys Sargo's, eyes menu synergies

Nation's Restaurant News,  March 26, 2007

SALEM, ORE. -- Figaro's Italian Pizza, operator or franchisor of 114 namesake delivery and take-and-bake locations, has acquired the 10-unit Sargo's Subs, an Italian-theme submarine sandwich retail system. Terms of the deal were not disclosed in Figaro's March 12 statement.

Ron Berger, Figaro's chairman and chief executive, said he would expand the two brands by offering Sargo's franchises to both prospective and existing Figaro's franchisees. In addition, Figaro's franchisees would be allowed to sell Sargo's sandwiches.

Figaro's said Sargo's founder Richard Persinger will be joining Figaro's in a senior management role to support Sargo's franchisees and assist in growing the brand.

Sargo's currently operates in California, Oregon and Washington. Most Figaro's locations are in the Northwest.
