Manufacturing Industry
Software based on service-oriented architecture
Modern Machine Shop, Dec, 2004 by Christy B. Bramlet
According to the company, Vantage 8.0 is the culmination of a 2-year development effort to provide its manufacturing customers with a single services-based business framework that supports multiple work flows. The end-to-end system is designed to address the core business needs of make-to-order (MTO) and mixed-mode manufacturers. The built-in work flows manage the entire order cycle, from marketing and sales to procurement and installation.
Featuring N-tier architecture using Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2003 and Web services technology, the system has been constructed to support growing market requirements for Service-Oriented-Architectures (SOAs), a new application that enables businesses to leverage software services through open-industry standards.
New capabilities include embedded planning and scheduling, along with help desk, enterprise purchasing and multi-plant management. These capabilities enable companies to integrate manufacturing operations globally, by deploying and consolidating enterprise information among multiple servers and databases.
Of special interest, the system features an independent operating system and database, which accommodate varying environments.
