Crystal Skull Story
Skeptical Inquirer, Nov-Dec, 2006 by Ron Smart
The Crystal Skull story (Investigative Files, July/August 2006) brought back an old memory. Years ago, on late-night radio, I tuned in to Art Bell's program. Bell, a crackpot, believed anything a guest said. This is my recollection of a very old memory. That night, he had the "Crystal Skull Man" on the show, telling of its discovery in a cave in South America. How perfect it was. No one knew how it was made. The jaw moved and talked to him. And the skull's power was so great, you could feel it blocks away. (A skull-power meter?)
He said there were seven skulls scattered around the world. If they were all brought together in one spot, there would be world peace! Bell opened the phone lines. The first caller was an irate man who said the guy was nuts. Bringing skulls together would not bring on world peace. The Skull Man must have fallen out of a tree for a second. "Yes," he said. "But, wouldn't it be wonderful if it were true." That kept me smiling for a week. Art Bell's program had all the fascination of watching a train wreck.
