David Morrison named 2004 Sagan medalist

Skeptical Inquirer,  Nov-Dec, 2004

Space scientist David Morrison, a CSICOP Fellow, has been awarded the 2004 Sagan Medal by the American Astronomical Society's Division for Planetary Science.

The Sagan medal is the highest honor (for public outreach) awarded by the Division for Planetary Sciences. It is named for the late astronomer, author, and science popularizer Carl Sagan, who was Morrison's professor when Sagan was on the Harvard faculty.

Morrison is a planetary astronomer, author of numerous books on planetary science and missions, and senior scientist at NASA's Astrobiology Institute at the Ames Research Center in California. Among other things, he is an expert on near-earth asteroids and the threats they pose to our planet.
