Should either Voyager spacecraft encounter extraterrestrials, they are prepared to make a presentation about Earth. Each spacecraft carries a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing music, greetings, and 115 images showcasing our planet's diversity of life and culture. ET will be able to learn what a supermarket looks like or hear the sounds of surf, Beethoven, or a Chinese folk song. Operating instructions--in pictures--are etched on the disc.
