Temp help - Letters - Letter to the Editor

Black Enterprise,  Feb, 2003  by Robert Holliday

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR ADVICE TO THE frustrated temporary employee ["Great Expectations," Motivation, October 2002] I would like to offer additional advice.

First, as a temp, don't trust the managers, co-workers, and the other temps. They do not have you or your family's interests in mind. Their interest is the needs of the business. Second, keep your eyes and ears open to your environment. See and feel the behavioral changes of the people around you. Third, within 30 days after receiving your temp assignment, start looking for your next assignment. Last, know the typical wait time for your next assignment, and plan [for it] to be longer than you expect it to be.
