The Ron Brown Scholar Program awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated African American high school seniors who intend to pursue undergraduate degrees full time.
Amount: $10,000 per year to a minimum of 10 students.
Qualifications: Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential, and have an impact on their communities through service to others.
Deadlines: January 9th of the student's senior year of high school.

Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarships are given to high school juniors who excel in three of the following areas: Special Talents, Leadership, Community Service, and Obstacles Overcome. So, you may win this scholarship for your singing ability, volunteer efforts at your church, or just surviving a tough childhood. The funds may be used for any type of post-high school education, including trade and technical schools.
Amount: $2,500 awarded to nine students from each state and the District of Columbia. $25,000 awarded to nine students for national scholarships.
Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited high school and have a 2.75 cumulative average for the ninth and 10th grades.
Deadlines: January 2003
