Jet,  Jan 22, 2001

American Banker recently appointed Eleanor Dixson-Hobbs publisher, making her the first woman and first Black to head the 165-year-old old daily newspaper.

In her new role as publisher, Dixson-Hobbs will be responsible for managing all aspects of American Banker and americanbanker.com. She will also manage all aspects of Future-Banker, a monthly magazine sent to American Banker subscribers that provides strategic technology guidance to senior banking executives.

"It is a very exciting time to be the publisher of American Banker," said Dixson-Hobbs. "The newspaper has a tremendous foundation in terms of readership and brand recognition. In the era of Gramm-Leach-Bliley, American Banker is well positioned to be the leading source of news and information not only in the banking community, but across financial services, and I look forward to leading this great paper into the future."

American Banker, a Thomson Financial publication, has been the banking and financial service industry's premier daily source of information, news and analysis for more than 160 years.
