Singers Kenny Lattimore & Chante Moore host post wedding reception in Los Angeles

Jet,  May 20, 2002

Four months after singers Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore rang in the new year by eloping during a quiet ceremony in Jamaica, the newlyweds celebrated their union with a post-wedding reception for family and friends at the Window restaurant in Los Angeles.

When the couple spoke to JET shortly after their clandestine ceremony earlier this year, the "soul mates" said they were so in love that they couldn't wait for a formal wedding ceremony (JET, Feb. 4, 2002).

"I didn't want to wait and put on a show for the world," Lattimore told JET. "Weddings are usually for everyone else and hot the bride and groom. I thought about our just doing this and eloping. We're going to have a reception later where everyone can come."

That's just what they did. Nearly 200 people attended the reception where the newlyweds exchanged personal vows.

The bride's brother, Kelvin Gomillion, escorted her down the aisle as the groom sang Donny Hathaway's classic You Were Made For Me.

During the ceremony Sophia, the bride's 5-year-old daughter from a previous marriage to actor Kadeem Hardison, was presented a ring from her new stepdad.

The couple shared their first dance to Marvin Gaye's If I Should Die Tonight. It was the same song they shared the first dance to when they wed in Jamaica.

Enjoying the festivities were famed musician George Duke, actors Tichina Arnold ("Martin"), Tempestt Bledsoe ("The Cosby Show") and Darryl Bell ("A Different World"), and Tina Campbell of the award-winning gospel duo Mary Mary.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed a second honeymoon in Las Vegas.

Lattimore's hit songs include Never Too Busy, For You and Days Like This. Moore's hit tunes include Love's Taken Over, Old School Lovin' and Chante's Got A Man.
