In this year of the Society's 70th birthday, we honor the Chicago chapter as the longest Chapter in existence - Chapter News

PSA Journal,  Feb, 2004  by J.J. Zaia

In this year of the Society's 70th Birthday, we honor the Chicago Chapter as the longest chapter in existence. The Chapter has been active since the 1940s and was the first to receive its Charter in 1955. Since its inception, the Chapter has been serving the membership within 19 of its surrounding counties and it has sponsored Regional and International Conferences at frequent intervals. The Chapter's continued success is due to a long line of dedicated members. Presently, Chairman Nancy Jacobek heads the Chapter with Vice Chair Robert Benson, Secretary Donald Alton and Treasurer Walter R. Centeno.

It's time to plan for The PSA Youth Showcase 2004. Do not delay contacting your local high schools to inform photography students of this outstanding and rewarding program, designed to promote and give exposure to photography students at the high school level. The program, now in its seventh year, is growing with additional sponsoring organizations enlisting student groups to participate. Any member chapter, club, council or organization may sponsor one or more groups, and may submit one set of six 8"X 10" or 8" X 12" unmounted prints per school in the following categories: Photojournalism, Human Interest. Architecture, Landscapes/Waterscapes and two Photographer's Choice. Winners will receive awards and cash prizes. The deadline for entries is May 4, 2004. Winners of the 2003 Showcase Awards were featured in an article in the September 2003 PSA Journal and are on display on the PSA website at www.psa-photo.org Also, see the "On My Mind ..." article by M. Jack Worthen, FPSA, in the December 2003 PSA Journal. Send entries and queries to Kathleen Z. Braun, APSA - Director, PSA Youth Showcase 2004, 300 Lake Shore, Grafton, WI 53024, (262) 375-1829, kzbraun@aol.com.
