Betty Jane Kranz-Sinclair, APSA, PPSA Sequim, WA

PSA Journal,  March, 2005  by Jean Timmermeister

Betty Jane Kranz-Sinclair was a "photographer's photographer," one might say. Just before her death she said she considered photography a real challenge to learn and it was the challenge itself that made the greatest impact on her life. One of her proudest moments was having one of her images on the cover of the PSA Journal (April 2002).

Mrs. Kranz-Sinclair was a member of the Youngstown Photographic Society (Ohio) and served four terms as the president; in 1993, she started the Mahoning Valley Camera Club, also in Ohio. In 1997, she moved to Sequim, WA, to be near her son where she joined Olympic Peaks Camera Club; and in 2004, she became a charter member of the Peninsula Photo Guild.

She joined the Photographic Society of America in 1972. In 1990, she was elected an Associate. Betty Jane loved international exhibiting and earned 5 stars in Color Slide: 4 stars each in Nature and Photo Travel; plus 3 stars in Photojournalism, leading to the PPSA Distinction in 2003. She served in Photo Travel and Color Slide divisions and was a commentator of a Color Slide Division Slide Study Group for 4 years until she became ill from liver cancer. Betty Jane Kranz-Sinclair passed away January 27th at age 85. Two daughters and a son survive.
