Shame on Zinn

Progressive, The,  Dec, 2004  by Brett Portman

Howard Zinn's "Our War on Terrorism" (November issue) is a recipe for despair.

His claim that "no major political figure has pointed out [that] a war on terrorism is profoundly self-contradictory" is transparently false. While David Cobb, the Green Party's candidate this year, may not be a major political figure, Ralph Nader most certainly is.

Zinn also referred to the Democratic Party as the opposition party. Pretending that it is, even potentially, an opposition party is a morass in which large parts of what passes for the left in America has allowed itself to be trapped for generations.

Shame on Howard Zinn.
