MCI revealed in May that it was paying its dismissed president, Richard R. Roscitt, $8.1 million, plus benefits, in accordance with his contract. Roscitt had served in his position for only seven months. MCI is in bankruptcy protection and is planning to lay off 12,000 workers by the end of the year.
