GF: Did you ever read David Thomson's book Suspects? It's a series of vignettes about film-noir characters. He hooks Matty up with Noah Cross, the John Huston character in Chinatown, who dies at the age of a hundred and two while Matty is giving him a blow job.
KT: [laughs] I think I'd better read this.
GF: It's a wonderful speculation on Matty's destiny, but, of course, it's fiction on top of fiction.
KT: Oh yes. That's one sequel that's never going to happen!
