Boiler Room. - Review - movie review
Interview, Feb, 2000 by Julie Horvath
Directed by Ben Younger
Wearing its inspirations--Wall Street, Glengarry Glen Ross, early Mclnerney--like a thousand-dollar Armani suit, Boiler Room venerates its elders without feeling stale. Younger's story of cash-fueled, morally bankrupt stockbrokers is so overstuffed with gleeful excess that it's in constant, electrifying danger of bursting. There's plenty to be repulsed by, but the Young Turk cast (including Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, and Nicky Katt) has such a good time wallowing in the mire that the return is equal parts frightening and fun.
