How does your garden grow

Interview,  Feb, 2008

One of the great, all but forgotten, part environmental/part aesthetic programs to come out of New York City was the "Keep America Beautiful" campaign, which Lady Bird Johnson joined and started to promote in the mid-1960s.

It was a "green" idea ahead of its time, and it brightened up highways with explosions of flower power when you least expected them. This season, fashion--both European and American--is doing its bit on the flower front, and Interview dedicates this feature to Lady Bird's visionary commitment.
