Lucky Numbers. - Review - movie review

Interview,  Nov, 2000  by Thelma Adams

Directed by Nora Ephron

Star John Travolta could certainly use some luck after the scorched Battlefield Earth, but it's doubtful that this delayed dark comedy will be his Sleepless in Seattle, Ephron's biggest hit to date. Travolta plays an overextended Harrisburg, Pennsylvania TV weatherman. After he gets lucky with lottery mannequin Lisa Kudrow, the duo schemes to rig the state numbers game. Tim Roth, Ed O'Neill, Bill Pullman, and Michael Rapaport provide support. Ephron left the writing to Adam Resnick (best known for his work on The Larry Sanders Show) for a harder-edged script that promises more corpses than the director's trademark kiss-and-cry-moments.
