Pizzicato 5. - Review - sound recording review

Interview,  Nov, 2000  by Dudley Saunders

The Fifth Release from Matador (Matador)

Pizzicato 5 rode the Japanese-pop wave that crested five or so years ago, and they appear to have established a comfortable post-trend beachhead on the American music scene. They're still switching off Bacharach-ish sixties-lounge-pop songs with instrumentals that sound like soundtracks for "Bugs Bunny Develops Schizophrenia." And, except for an occasional processed vocal, they have refrained gloriously from picking up on any musical trend younger than thirty-five.
