Interview,  Sept, 2005  by Doug Wyman,  Tim Anderson

Dear Interview,

Talk about breaking trust with your readers. What was that Tokyo [June 2005] issue about? My copy spent all of a minute in my hands before it hit the recycle bin. If you ever do another issue like that, please send my copy to a random person in the country you are covering who might be able to appreciate it.

DOUG WYMAN Studio City, CA

Dear Interview,

Domo domo! Your Tokyo issue was a surprise and a complete delight--a great overview of contemporary Japanese pop art as well as its helmsmen and -women. Karl Lagerfeld's photos wonderfully captured the personalities behind the pop, with one exception: He nearly ruined my crush on film star Tadanobu Asano with the only unappealing pics in the mag. All in all, though, a five-star job and an awesome reminder that Japan continues to produce the most mystifying, absurd, and delectable stuff around.
