Dream life superstar: tween fantasy factory

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  Jan, 2008

If you can dream it, you can be it--at least in the world of Tiger Electronics' Dream Life Superstar. For tween girls who fantasize about becoming rich and famous, this plug-and-play TV game allows players to get a taste of the celebrity lifestyle by trying out one of six larger-than-life careers: Movie Star, Diva, Fashion Designer, Sports Star, Reality TV Star, and Writer.

Youngsters can live it up as they discover that fame has its rewards--in the form of gifts, photo opportunities, fan letters, and special invitations to glamorous Red Carpet events. There are tons of looks, clothes, and activities to choose from to help players define who they are and who they would like to be. Their alter-egos can spend a day relaxing at the Spa with other famous friends, visit the Pet Shop to pick up a dog or cat, or explore downtown. More areas are unlocked as the game is played.

Dream Life Superstar ($39.99) features a virtual scrapbook where customized snapshots of their journey to stardom can be kept. Games can be saved, and the easily portable console can be taken to a friend's house to share the fun.

A nice function is its wireless controller, so kids aren't tripping on the cords or yanking the television set. Of course, this means it requires batteries: two AAA for the remote and four AA for the game module. For more information, visit www.hasbro.com.
