Save your world

Most of us go through our days without giving a second thought to the rain forests or, given their location, even considering that they have any effect on our lives. Although these natural regions cover only a tiny portion of the Earth's surface, they house more than two-thirds of all the living species in the world, and are the single greatest source of the air we breathe. At the current rate of destruction, it is estimated that half of our remaining rain forests will be gone by 2025 and complete devastation will occur by 2060.

In a preservation effort, the environmental organization Conservation International is leasing 200,000 acres of rain forest in Guyana, South America, by paying the government exactly what it would have received if the area had been logged. Save Your World, Portland, Ore., is aiding this mission by donating a portion of the proceeds from every product it sells.
