Painting is so easy with just a Twist

A relatively easy and inexpensive do-it-yourself project is repainting. Selecting just the right color can produce dramatic results. Do you want to make a bold statement or create a serene oasis? Indeed, a fresh coat of paint can change the feel of your entire home.

Our favorite tool for such transformations is Black & Decker's PaintStick EZ-Twist, distributed by Home Right, Minneapolis, Minn. This system significantly cuts the amount of work time by eliminating the use of the paint tray. Paint is pulled directly from the can into a reservoir in the handle. As you roll the color onto the wall or ceiling, exert slight pressure on the handle to push the paint into the roller cover. It's that simple. You can continue to work until the handle is empty, without having to stop every couple of feet to re-dip the roller. It features a longer extension handle to reach high areas.

Loading is easy as well. After fitting a standard one-gallon can with the included plastic lid and fill tube, place the PaintStick's valve on the tube and pull back on the handle until full. When finished, the excess can be returned to the can.

The five-piece kit ($29.99) includes the Paint-Stick EZ-Twist, roller cover, splatter shield, fill tube, and paint-can cover. You also may want to pick up a Black & Decker Roller Cleaning Kit ($10.99). It comes with a handy Painter's Tool, which strips the roller cover of up to 60% of the remaining paint, which also can be put back into the can as well. Included is a roller cleaner that screws onto a standard laundry tub or garden hose. As the roller is moved up and down, water is forced through it for faster, more effective cleaning.
