Sharp quizzes for sharp minds

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  Jan, 2007

Although a lot of kids don't really see when they are ever going to use math in their lives, we know that, in reality, we use it every day. From calculating the best buys in the supermarket to gas mileage to the amount of grass seed to buy to the number of points our team needs to come back to win the football game, these questions are answered much more easily when math facts are imbedded in our subconscious.

Sharp Electronics Corp., Mahwah, N.J., has two new calculators with math drills to help make a game out of learning multiplication tables and solving simple arithmetic problems, the Quiz Calc and Brain Exerciser. Both allow the user to choose 25-, 50-, or 100-question drills, then supply a final score when the test is completed.

In case you're thinking of buying these just for the kids, remember that brain function gradually declines after age 20. Giving your cerebrum a daily workout--just like physical exercise's effect on the body--can keep your mind fit. For more information, visit www.sharpusa.com.
