You might be a redneck if …
USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), Nov, 2006
Each year, Patch Products, Inc., Beloit, Wis., sends us a catalog brimming with card games, action toys, and every puzzle imaginable, and each year there always are a few new surprises tucked away in its pages. This season's add-ons include BubbleBrain, Great Big Sneaky Puzzle, Road Trip QuizWit, and Jeff Foxworthy's You Might Be a Redneck If... The latter is a departure from Patch's usual kids' fare, and obviously is aimed at an older, more politically incorrect crowd.
Culled from Foxworthy's stand-up routines--incidentally, his comedy albums are the best-selling of all time, with over 14,000,000 in circulation--You Might Be a Redneck If ... ($29.99) asks players to fill in the blanks on a series of questions that start with that phrase. Correct answers help players fill up their trailer park homes faster (with stuff like Fly Swatters, Recliners, Bags o' Jerky, and Hound Dogs) as they move around the board. Sample: You Might Be a Redneck If ... the Jerry Springer show--. (a) Is your favorite pastime. (b) Has featured your mom. (c) Asks you back. The correct answer is (c). One more: You Might Be a Redneck If ... you've ever picked your teeth with a--. (a) Menu. (b) Chained-down pen at the bank. (c) Fork. The correct answer is (a).
For family fun that includes the kids, however, we recommend BubbleBrain ($29.99), where you control the thoughts of others.... Well, not really, but it's your task to make up funny captions for silly photos, then try to guess which players wrote which captions. If you like to make wisecracks, enjoy your witty friends, or think you're pretty funny, then you're going to be a big BubbleBrain buff. Plus, there are a bunch of Bubble Stickers so you can use your own pictures to play.
Road Trip QuizWit ($15.99 apiece) is a series of trivia games. Each one--Hollywood Flicks, Pop Tunes, and TV Tube--contains 1,000 questions. The magnetic game board and pawns make it perfect for travel.
The 46-piece Great Big Sneaky Puzzle ($11.99), which actually is two puzzles in one, has added A Day at the Zoo to the popular series. This two-sided puzzle has the image of a tiger family on one side and a zoo on the other. The sneaky part? All the letters of the alphabet and the numbers 0-9 are hidden in the scenery.
