> More than 94% of those polled say that having U.S. citizenship makes someone "truly American," reports a study by Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. More than 90% insist that speaking and writing English well and a willingness to pledge allegiance to the flag are important. Nearly 80% think that serving in the military is vital, and 76% feel that having an education and training matter as well.
