Little Tikes has got it just right

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  May, 2006

This time of year, it doesn't take much to entice the kids to go out and play, especially when the yard is full of Little Tikes swings and things. Backyard play gyms hold universal appeal and it never ceases to amaze us how our young ones never get tired of swinging before we get tired of pushing them.

In the High Back Toddler Swing ($16.99), riders are well-supported and held secure with an adjustable seat belt. Wide seat and leg openings make it easy to get them in and out of the swing, and the center support prevents the child from slipping down. Designed for children nine to 36 months, the swing has heavy-duty hardware and weather-resistant rope and adapts to any playset.

For older children--ages three to 10 years--the Disc Swing ($14.99) is an exciting twist on the classic. The rope comes up the middle of the approximately 12" circle and can hang from any tree branch. The 10' rope can accommodate different hanging heights and provide hours of fun.

When you're finally able to get your toddler out of the swing, we know he'll run to the Deluxe Cozy Convertible Car ($69.99). Designed for one- to three-year-olds, this jaunty convertible has a dashboard that makes five electronic sounds. The youngest will love being pushed around the yard or the neighborhood--with the roof up or down. When they're old enough, just remove the handle and floorboard and the child can power the car with his or her feet.

Of course, when we think of Little Tikes. Hudson, Ohio, we can't help but get all warm and fuzzy about their classic toys, like the Baby Tap-a-Tune Piano ($13.99). Often an infant's first chance to become a musician, the youngster delights in making music as he or she also learns cause-and-effect. And of course we never tire of hearing our little Mozarts-in-training pound on the four easy-to-press keys!
