Not wild about the wild card

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  May, 2006  by Wayne M. Barrett

Finally, the World Series should be a best-of-nine affair the way it was in 1903 and 1919-21 for two very good reasons. As the nation's only everyday professional sport, baseball is best served by playing more games, as there is a better chance the top team will emerge from the fray the more contests there are. Also, with post-season games now routinely running upwards of four hours (or more), and not starting until 8:30 p.m., youngsters--and their parents, for that matter--are fast asleep when the last pitch is thrown. Why not mandate that the extra two World Series games receive an afternoon start time'?

What are the chances that any of these proposals will become a reality? Hey, you can kill the dreamer, but not the dream.
