Keeping it high and dry without getting soaked

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  July, 2005

Where we live in the Northeast, as in many parts of the country, one of the biggest nuisances of this time of the year is the humidity. We fight back with expensive to own and operate dehumidifiers, which only work if you remember to keep their tanks empty. There has to be a better way to keep enclosed areas--such as storage units, boats, RVs, closets, safes, etc.--free from moisture.

We were impressed with the Dri-It Humidity Absorber from Sphinx Adsorbents, Inc., Springfield, Mass. A pouch that can be placed almost anywhere to protect against mold, mildew, and rust, it is designed to absorb up to 300% of its weight in water. Safe and nontoxic, the pouch lets water vapor in and converts it to a thick gel. It is odor-free, spill-proof, and can be discarded in ordinary trash.

Dri-It Humidity Absorbers retail for $7.98 for a resealable foil bag containing two pouches which include humidity indicators to monitor the area being protected. For more information about this product, go to www.sphinxadsorbents.com.
