Better hang on to the cruiser

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  May, 2005

If a man doesn't own a rider mower, then he surely has a self-propelled number that zooms around the yard cutting the grass in chip-chop fashion. But what about inside? Shouldn't a vacuum power itself, picking up debris as it whisks around the house leaving spotless carpeting in its wake? The answer, according to Royal Appliance Mfg. Co., Glen Willon, Ohio, is a resounding yes! Take hold of the Dirt Devil Cruiser, a self-propelled bagless upright.

Unlike other self-propelled models that have a mechanical propulsion system which often is difficult to control, the Cruiser ($199.99)--besides its lightweight, but durable, aluminum construction--boasts an electronic feature that senses the push and pull of the user's individual stroke. So, it actually adjusts to your cleaning pace--forward and in reverse. As the vacuum is pushed forward, the electronic drive system kicks in and gently guides the unit right along with you, sans any annoying jerking motions.

As the vacuum is pulled back, the device continues to adjust to your stroke.

Moreover, Cruiser's patented canter dirt path and 12-amp motor mean maximum suction and cleaning power. In addition, the HEPA filtration system traps 100% of pollen and ragweed and 99.97% of dust and allergens. And, thanks to the Cruiser's clear, easy-to-empty, dirt container, there won't be any need to deal with a messy vacuum bag again. Also, its large capacity means you'll empty it even less.

Fully equipped, the Cruiser comes with a complete set of on-board tools, including a Turbo--a revolving brush attachment that easily slides onto the unit's stretch hose to remove dirt and pet hair from hard-to-reach places like upholstery, drapes, and stairs. Other attachments include a crevice tool to get into tight places and a two-in-one upholstery device for stairs and furniture. And don't forget the dual headlights for dark rooms.
