Messenger in a garden
USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), May, 2005
When flowers won't bloom, trees don't bear fruit, and grass refuses to grow green, the problem usually can be traced to the plant's immune system. Messenger from Eden Bioscience Corp., Bothell, Wash., can change all that. Messenger, by the way, is not a fertilizer, plant hormone, or fungicide--it is a naturally based protein produced from fermentation. Simply spray it on and watch the growth.
The product's active ingredient, harpin protein, is a trigger that amplifies a plant's inherent ability to protect itself and thrive. The systems that manage stress defense, growth, and reproduction are enhanced with each application, so plants are healthier, more vigorous, and better able to resist stresses from adverse weather or pests. Moreover, it is the perfect complement to plant foods and fertilizers since it aids a plant's ability to utilize nutrients.
Messenger is EPA approved for use on all plants, indoors and outdoors. It may be sprayed on edible crops the same day they are harvested. No special protective equipment is required to mix or apply the product.
Messenger should be applied every two-three weeks while plants actively are growing as well as immediately before key physiological events in the vegetation's life cycle.
