Lighting the way for our troops

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  Nov, 2004

Though we're used to seeing single candles in windows at Christmastime, they've recently become a year-round accessory. During Colonial times, colonists placed candles in their windows to tell soldiers and weary travelers they were welcome in that home. Today, Americans are using them to show support for friends and family who serve our country.

Along with the message they send, we're delighted with the look of Twin Candies from The Holmes Group, Milford, Mass. At 11" high, these electric, brass-finish candles use 7-watt bulbs and feature a sensor to turn them on at dusk and off at dawn, though you can override it and operate them manually. The equally beautiful 3 in 1 Rainbow Candle Lite is battery-operated and includes an LED candle light which can change colors or flicker. It lasts for over 113,000 hours and also has the Mastersensor feature.

The Twin Candles retail for $24.99 for a package of two and the Rainbow Candle Lite runs $9.99. Both products are available at mass merchandisers, hardware stores, and on the web at www.holmesproducts.com.
