Crafty Madeline - What's new? Holiday gifts galore - craft kits for kids - Brief Article

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education),  Nov, 2002

For more than a quarter-century, the Creativity for Kids line, from Faber-Castell USA, Cleveland, Ohio, has been providing some of the very best and most-innovative activity kits for children. That tradition continues with six new Madeline arts and crafts kits, all centered around the little French schoolgirl of literary and Disney TV fame. The instructions to each kit include a charming introductory poem and some French words so children can learn how to say garden, moon, girl, house, and thank you, among others.

That dialogue should come in handy when the kids put on plays with Puppets de Paris: Magnetic Puppet Theatre ($14.95). Using markers, youngsters will delight in coloring in the background scenes and the puppet figures themselves (who stand sturdy in foam bases). Magnet wands move the figures around as stories are acted out.

Other kits include Tres Jolie Verre: Stained Glass Window Stickers ($13.99), Mini Bijoux: Shrinky Dinks Charms ($13.99), Les Petites Fleurs: Pretty Flower Kit ($15.99), Bonnie Nuit: "Good Night" Light ($15.99), and Bonjour Bath: Fun in the Tub ($15.99).

Faber-Castell's Creativity line is hardly just relegated to Madeline. There also are "Le Most" Cute Objects ($14), the Mini Window Sill Garden ($14), Magnetic Mirror and Frame Set ($12), Mini Tea Set ($15), and Rain and Sun Umbrella ($10). What is especially appealing is that the child gets to decide how to decorate them; what colors to use; which patterns are most appealing; and that no expression of creativity is off-limits.
