Backyard chuckwagon - What's New? - grilling utensils from Danger Men Cooking - Brief Article
USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), July, 2002
As any enthusiast will tell you, grilling is a serious job that requires the proper tools as well as the necessary ingredients to throw on the fire. To gear up virtually from head to toe, turn to Danger Men Cooking, Highland, N.Y. Admittedly chauvinistic, the company's mindset is that the grill ain't a fittin' place for the little lady, as clearly evidenced by an inventory of its products.
All of the necessary--and, in some cases, perhaps unnecessary--equipment is emblazoned with black-and-gold pronouncements that echo the "Danger Men Cooking" theme, starting with a metal sign that hooks directly to the grill and a roll of crime scene-like tape to stake out a perimeter within which interlopers are prohibited. A bold black, distinctly rugged apron, baseball cap, and T-shirt provide the uniform of the day, though, for some reason, there are a pair of boxer shorts and a tie in gold with black type as well. All of this can be bundled into a black canvas carryall at meal's end.
For the cooking itself, there are a heavy metal marinade pan, Cowboy Pete's Happy Hooker meat turner, and a three-sided branding iron to mark steaks rare, medium, or well. To flavor the meat, there are a trio of sauces--Tough Guy Hot Sauce, Tough Guy Steak Sauce, and Tough Guy Wussy Hot Sauce--the latter proclaiming that it "lets every wimp strap on a pair of spurs, live in a saddle, eat beans and wolf down a meal without breaking a sweat!"
For those cooks who are not macho enough to snatch meat barehanded off the grill, there is a bright gold oven mitt with the requisite slogans all over it. Finally, to signal that it's time for everybody to come a'runnin' before you throw it to the hogs, there's an old-fashioned triangle to rattle a ladle around.
