Plush pajamas - What's New? Winter Gear & Food Fest - Brief Article
USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), Jan, 2002
While government interference can be vexing, the end result can be (surprise!) a good thing. Three years ago, the Consumer Product Commission deemed that children's sleepwear had to change--either it had to be flame retardent or it had to be form-fitting. In other words, baggy, comfy PJs were verboten by order of the Feds. Consequently, kids' sleepwear was either stiff as a board from the application of the flame-resistant solution or uncomfortably skin-tight since no air could be between the garment and the skin. Ouch!
Happily for kids (and adults), L'Agneau D'Or, Housatonic, Mass., has come up with a CPC-approved application that leaves its preshrunk, 100% interlock cotton pajamas and nightgowns soft and cuddly.
We opted for its "blue snowflake" pattern boy's PJs ($40), as well as a girl's ($44) and woman's ($56) nightgown. Margaret Taylor, who founded L'Agneau D'Or (The Golden Lamb) 15 years ago, has all her prints exclusively designed by her husband, a scenic designer for Broadway shows. The Greek imported cotton fabrics are all interlock woven, meaning there are more threads per square inch than in the more common (and cheaper) "jersey" method.
Taylor's wonderful line of sleepwear is available in specialty boutiques (call 413-274-3545 for the closest venue) or order online through pajamamania.com.
