What about the orders?

"The Bottom Line" rightly focuses on the noncompliance of some pastors in the financial stewardship of American Catholic parishes. Yet while David Gibson gives some attention to diocesan bishops, he does not train his investigative light on the noncompliance of religious orders. And investigative reporting might well begin to take a closer look at the percentage of donated dollars spent on fundraising itself rather than on the needy--including needy religious themselves and worthy charities recommended to us by the bishops--for whom the dollars are given.
