Dinosaurs shouting

You say the world
is not exactly
as one supposes
and yet apples
are more abundant than ever
while worms
inside their cores
are now as scarce
as birds without wings.
Remember the mirror is glass
and you inside it
could be broken
into as many fragments
as there are stars in the sky.
Whether beneath thunder or rainbows
you are still little more
than an articulate frog
croaking a creed of your own
like a ring of laughter
or some erratic bombast
you could never atone for.
