Study reveals contributions to nonprofits decreasing
Camping Magazine, July-August, 2003
Guidestar, a national database of U.S. charitable organizations, which gathers and distributes data on more than 850,000 IRS-recognized nonprofits, surveyed contributors to nonprofits and nonprofit organizations, with the following results:
* 50 percent of youth development organizations surveyed reported at least some decrease in contributions.
* Nonprofits most affected by the decline in donations reported expenditures below $1 million.
* 29 percent of nonprofits in Rocky Mountain states report contributions had "decreased greatly."
