The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Tex., has received a $5-million challenge grant from the Dia Art Foundation. Administered by Dia and funded by the Lannan Foundation, the gift will be used to initiate an endowment to ensure the future financial stability of the innovative art center established by Donald Judd in 1986.
The Chinati Foundation plans a series of fundraising events in order to secure the grant, which must be matched dollar for dollar within one year.
