Wadsworth Atheneum

Willard Holmes, director of the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Conn., since 2003, has announced his resignation; he will remain at the institution until a replacement has been found. He is credited for stabilizing the museum and reining in a $120-million expansion plan. Prior to heading the Wadsworth, he was chief operating officer and deputy director of the Whitney Museum in New York.
